Figured I'd update since it's been like a month now, and also because people won't leave me alone until I do. Started work full time this Monday, and I don't know how people do it. The prospect of getting up at 8 am M-F for the next 40 years is depressing at best. For now, the job is pretty basic and easy, and it's good pay and hopefully will turn into resume material or maybe a part time job during the semester, so I'll just ride it out.
Last weekend Sarang flew in from Dallas to celebrate turning 21, so we took him down to 6th and spent way too much money on shots. I spent $40 on one round at Bar Austin, and then didn't feel like drinking anymore. Highlights of the night include Judi buying him a Blue Wave, and the fight in our parking garage as we were leaving. For those that don't know, a Blue Wave is a two part shot, 1 glass blue colored and 1 glass of water. For the first, you yell "Gimme the blue!" 3 times and then take the shot. Then you yell "Gimme the wave!" three times, and the bartender throws the water in your face. Then everyone in the bar laughs at you, including your friends. This is illustrated in the next two pics.
When it hit 2 o clock and everyone was clearing out, some guy bumped into us and apologized, saying he was about to go beat some guy's ass. He stumbled off drunk and we didn't think anything of it, but as we were walking to our car, we heard people yelling, and a group of white guys chasing someone, yelling "ATX motherfucker!" (which makes no sense, I think we all know we're in Austin, you don't have to rep your city while in it), and then something about one guy being a boxer. Then we hear someone yell "Holy shit, that was one punch!" and as we turn the corner we see our friend from before sprawled out on the ground, knocked the fuck out and bleeding on his shirt. Instead of checking to see if he's ok, Judi does the natural thing: takes a picture and runs away.
Also went swimming at Barton Springs in Zilker Park last weekend, which was pretty cool, except for water that was so cold that it literally took your breath away when you got in. I think we spent most of our time watching clumsy people jump off the diving board and land painfully in the water. All in all a pretty good week before the prison that is known as work.
Who that is?
