Save Money, Be Cold

Jul 09, 2008 08:54

Paying my power bill, and I read this note:

Save Money - Save 10 percent or more on your summer cooling costs by setting the thermostat to 76F when at home and higher when you are away. Cooling the house when you return costs less than keeping it cool all the time.
So I'm guessing that 76 is warmer than most people set the thermostat? No wonder I hate air conditioning. We turned ours on Monday night because it was rather warm and humid, and everyone was complaining. Monday night I ended up sleeping with the sheet, the blanket, and the comforter, because I was too cold. Yesterday the thermostat was set at 78°, and I was cold so I bumped it up a couple degrees.  Seriously, it's summer.  I want to wear my shorts, not have to break out the sweats - those are for  winter.

Honestly though, just once I'd like to see one of these 'save money' tips that I can actually use.  I suppose what it means is that we're already saving money.  The question though is, where do we go from here?

air conditioner, bills, savings
