A/C in October?

We got home Friday afternoon, mainly so Cory could play with the band at the football game and get back into the swing of things.  They've got competition coming up the next two weekends.  Also, when we were originally planned for the Feast, we were just thinking that if would be over on Friday, and we'd come on home.  I didn't realize Don was planning Sabbath services there, too.  So we got home Friday, went to the football game, where Cory played in the band and we helped sell stuff to raise money for Band Boosters.  Last football game we went to we were cold.  This game?  I didn't even want to wear jeans since it was so warm - but then the mosquitoes made us all wish we had everything covered up.  While we were at the game, Beth went over to Tim's to pick up the cat.  We were all amazed how much that cat had grown in the 9 days since we'd seen her!  What was Tim feeding her, anyway?

We all went to bed at a reasonable time and got up to drive back over to Baraboo for church.  It's quite convenient having the Feast site so close to home.  I was thinking about the times we went to the Dells before we lived up here.  It seemed so different from what we were used to, and we really enjoyed the scenery and the drive.  Now it seems familiar and normal - but I still really enjoy the scenery.  It's a beautiful part of the country.  What really bugs me is all the commercialism that does such a good job of hiding the natural scenery.  Anyway, it was so warm on Sabbath that I even wore one of my sundresses and sandals to church.  Of course, I had to take a sweater like always because the air conditioning in the room was always cold.  Still - somewhere in the 80's in October?  What kind of weather is that?  Because the weather was so warm, we left Tillie in the basement so she'd stay cool.

Tim went to church with us, and we had quite a large group for services - some different people than we'd had during the Feast and some of the same ones.  The discussion was good, and then afterwards we ate, and then Jeffrey and Don tore down and loaded sound equipment.  We had left the Buick at the hotel, so Beth and Tim went out afterwards and did something - nothing major, and they headed home shortly after we did.  We were home around 5 or 6, ordered some pizza, and just took it easy.  We had all the windows open, and I thought it was quite comfortable in here, but everyone else kept complaining about being so hot - so they closed up the house and turned the air on.  I'm thinking, "I don't care how hot it is.  It's October!"  Oh well, after tomorrow it's supposed to cool down to more normal temperatures, so I can turn it off then.

The good thing about the weather - my tomatoes didn't die because of frost.  I had picked several tomatoes before we left because I was afraid they would get over ripe (or frost, if that would happen) and I didn't want to lose all of them.  Those all ripened up nicely in the basement while we were gone, and a whole bunch more ripened in the garden.  Even though I had picked most of them that were even close to getting ripe, there were still some that got over ripe and started to rot while we were gone.  Still, I have plenty, so I'm not complaining.  I also had a large zucchini to pick, some green beans, and some banana peppers.  Oh, and chard - so much chard.  I need to go look up some chard recipes so I can use it.  I started a list of chard recipes that sounded good - and then Tillie climbed up on my computer and stepped on the wrong buttons and shut everything down.  That was a while ago, and that's the last time I've let her get on the computer.  What was I thinking?  I thought it would make a good picture - and then the picture turned out blurry!   And I still need recipes.
