So that last post I stated that I needed more patience with my students.
After that I had another incident with the same student who did not not listen to directions, then did not read directions, and just really did her work without effort. I continued to make her do it over.
She had to continue it during lunch and I really felt like such a mean teacher.
I did however get a very nice comment that I need to remember so I'm writing it in here.
One other teacher who is outside at recess commented on how PATIENT I was with this student. I continued to explain the directions over and over to this child. I felt like I was being mean because I was making her do it over and over and yet this teacher thought I was being patient!
She stated that she would have lost her patient with this student a long time ago (everyone knows that she is a more difficult student than others)
That really made my day and helped me to continue having patience with all my students because I need to remember that everyone gets frustrated but I need to think about my students first and what they are going through and where their difficulty is coming from.
Sorry I just needed to get that out for myself.
