Trying again but it's much the same. I began querying again for WANTED: CHOSEN ONE, NOW HIRING and I'm doing my Google searches of the agents I'm going to submit to. It's always good to find their nuances if you can. Some people prefer being called by their first names. Some people don't. It's good to find that information.
Sometimes you find information you don't want, though. It's only been six months since I queried for BLACK MAGIC AND BARBECUE SAUCE but the change in availability is staggering. More and more agents are closed to unsolicited queries or are commenting in their blogs that they're so swamped that they're not taking on any new clients unless they're completely and utterly blown away and even then it's against their best interests.
Ugh! It's one thing to be rejected because my writing isn't good enough or because the story I'm telling isn't their kind of thing. But to be rejected because too many other people are trying to get published too is heartbreaking.
So I've come up with a solution. We're going to play Red Light/Green Light. All of you out there in the world that write fantasy books and do not have an agent? Red Light. Stop querying until I find representation. I'll let you know when you get the Green Light.
Whew. Problem solved.
