Human Nature/Family of Blood
Pros:
+This is the episode where I fell in love with Tennant as a dramatic actor
The acting is amazing. Mad props to the actors who played the Family and the scarecrows. Definitely upped the level of creepy still held by the Monster Master, Steven Moffat.

+I love seeing a badass Ten so cold and ominious in how he punishes the Family. It is so eerie how he keeps Sister of Mine in the mirror. I hope Eleven and Amy don’t happen upon her. I can hear it now:

Eleven working at the computer. Suddenly a distant but shrill scream rings out.
“AHHH!! There’s a creepy girl in your mirror, Doctor!”
Eleven frowns, before it dawns on him. “Oh…right.”

+I loved how Redfern dismissed Ten, coldly asking if none of this would’ve happened and people had died if he hadn’t come here. I thought that was a brilliant and jarring way of telling the audience that, although the Doctor is brilliant, he does bring “monsters” and death with him. Great writing in showing his faults as a “hero” and challenging our perceptions of him as “Do no wrong”

+At the end, the WWI ceremony with older Tim and Martha and Ten there to honor him was very well done and makes me smile every time

~Cons (and boy have they been discussed)~
+ When John Smith was snippy with her and asked “What exactly do you to for him” if I was her I would’ve snapped “Miscegenation. Lots of it”

+Uh asking Redfern to travel with him. Uh, it’s like bitch you already have a companion one who took charge when you were rubbish as a human, endured racism, sexism, and classism for you. And all she gets is a hug and thanks. She handled that a lot better than I would have. I love Persiflage’s “Farringham 1913” and I love thinking that her story is canon. I recommend people read her thoughtful story instead.
