Pit Bulls

What is WRONG with people??? How can you be afraid of pit bulls when you see things like this: Cesar's Pit Bull, Daddy, with Pup

I have never been afraid of a pit bull, and buddy, I've seen bunches of them at PetSmart. I have trained several, including a beautiful, yet hyper, adult female named Diamond. The people in her class who had little dogs were terrified of her getting near them and their pets. I never understood it. She was just excited; they had no idea. And because she was a pit bull, she was "questionable." Not only that, but DOZENS of people would come up to me and ask me if we even ALLOWED pit bulls in our training classes!!! Can you imagine??! And now, in dozens of cities across Alabama and other states, it is actually illegal to have a pit bull. Like in Birmingham city limits, for example. Or maybe it's Jefferson county...I've forgotten. If I had a pit bull already before moving here, I would not be required to get rid of it. But acquire one now? Nope!! Wonder what sort of problems that would create if I were just trying to foster one. The atrocity!!!! John and I have agreed that, one day in the far-off future, we are going to foster pit bulls and dobermans. DANG people tick me off. On a related note, has anyone besides me heard of Pinups for Pitbulls? It's pretty cool. Models, burlesque dancers, and "regular Janes" doll themselves up and pose with rescued pit bulls in a calendar, to benefit pit bull rescue. It's pretty cool! I would totally do that, lol, if I didn't look like I do currently. :) They get SO many applications for people offering to pose in the calendars; you wouldn't believe! All of the pit bulls featured in the calendar are dogs who were slated to die in shelters SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WERE PIT BULLS!!! They were not even given the OPTION of being adopted; they were set to die the moment they came into the shelter, and they only lived because of rescue groups, God bless them. This is just one example of why I am so passionate about animal rescue; people have no idea that NOT all dogs who come into the shelter are given a chance. It's really absurd. Not to mention that the temperament test they use on dogs there is only passed by about 60% of the dogs--60%!!!! These are NOT vicious dogs who fail the test; they are dogs who are freakin' SCARED and don't act like themselves because, guess what, they don't know where the heck they are or why they're there!!! I have had several foster dogs who did not pass the temperament test who are now living very happy, happy lives... dang sue sternberg and her stupid test!
