john's foot/ankle
Poor John just can't seem to get a break. As expected, the injury to his foot was serious after all. For those of you who don't know, he was raking leaves a little over a week ago and stepped in a hole in the back yard. He heard a loud pop and was in terrible pain. He refused to go see a doctor until last week, when he had an x-ray and MRI. Apparently there is a crack, a severe fracture, and also two of the main tendons are badly torn away from the bone (i.e., holding on by a thread). he's been referred to an orthopedic surgeon, who he'll see sometime next week. in the meantime, he's forbidden to work at all, and we won't know until he sees the surgeon whether he will need surgery or just physical therapy (or both). he's in quite a bit of pain. and all this fun news he got on his birthday. :( poor guy. he really can't catch a break! please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. he needs all the help he can get!
