Well, today was interesting. We were real busy at work and so for the second day in a row I was out moving and not in the warehouse. I don't like that as things get misplaced and such when there is no one knowledgable around in the warehouse (and Bruce is out for a few weeks as he had knee surgery). Drats ( Read more... )

The job position was:
Senior IT Systems Engineer - Global Trade IT - 005293 (posted Oct 28. 2003 in case you try to look it up on the www.nikebiz.com site).

The qualifications listed was:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field
* 2 years' additional professional experience in lieu of a degree
* 5 years' experience in IT or a related field
* 5 years' Unix Scripting and Oracle development (preferably 9i) experience
* 3 years' experience programming in SQL and server side Java programming experience
* Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills on a systems level
* Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills
* Experience with hardware maintenance and tracking, including CPU, Memory, disk utilization and applying OS patches is preferred
* Experience with application enterprise servers, including Web Logic, Jrun and Websphere is preferred.

So, they were legitimate in testing Unix scripting knowledge. While I have done Unix scripting over five years, it has never been the main focus of my job.
