Well, it's been nearly a month since I last posted, so I thought I'd say Hi and update you all on what's been going on. The short answer is not much.
Work: I'm on medicine this month...my last one EVER. It's been pretty good as far as medicine months go...I really can't complain especially since I had a no hitter yesterday (no admits during my call day). I've got just 4 more calls and 12 more days and I'm done with medicine rotations forever! Exciting. I'm starting to put together my CV and get things going on the job search, although that's still coming slowly. I hope to have some interviews set up by this time next month, though. At least some in town here.
Personal: Is good as always. We had our class retreat the weekend of the 9th and 10th, which was great. This is an all expense paid weekend to Lutsen with my whole residency class and all our significant others. Kids are invited too, but noone chose to bring their kids this year, which was kind of fun. It was a weekend full of drinking and debauchery, as it should be. Mark and I also went for a long snow shoe in one of the area state parks on Saturday morning, which was awesome. We had a great time show shoeing and hanging out with friends all weekend. Mark and I celebrated Valentine's Day on the 16th (this past Saturday...I was on call on the 14th). It was wonderful...I made Mini Beef Wellingtons (individual meat pies, essentially) and garlic mashed potatoes (with roasted garlic) and a green salad for dinner with chocolate Mousse for dessert. I also got a really good bottle of wine. Mark got me Ratatouille and a new pair of head phone as a gift, and I got him a State Parks Pass for his car. It was a great day.
Weather: It continues to be cold! We've had a few days in the 30s and Saturday got as high as 40, but for the most part it's been cold. We are supposed to get down to -15 tonight with wind chills in the -20 or less. High tomorrow is 2, I think. Ahhh...Minnesota winter! Actually, we don't mind it so much. We just got back from a brisk walk with the dog despite the fact that it's 7 out with a wind chill of -12. It feels good.
And that's about it from here! Hope you are all doing well. Keep writing in your journals...I love to read them!
