I wonder what the Japanese word for "barf" is?

I have a need today, to thank the ancient Japanese: Your language may be complicated as all hell, with 3 different ways to show a respectful/humble tone to someone (and I'm learning all 3, right now!), and you borrowed your writing from the Chinese, which means that some of your characters take a whole sentance's worth of strokes to create, but I feel the need to thank you. Why? Because you invented 1) tofu, for which many a veggie will be forever in your debt, and more importantly, 2) miso soup. I can keep miso paste in my fridge forever, and on a day such as today, when I spent most of my day in a bed-ridden state, I can drearily remember that tub of salty paste and think, hey, I can make miso soup! Which is the perfect sick meal, IMO. Its a very light and tasty soup, where you can just make broth or add any veggies you have on hand/can stomach (or tofu!), and you can easily only make a bowl for yourself, or a bunch if you happen to be cooking for a lot of sick-ees.

So, I am off to curl back into bed, with my utterly impossible Japanese homework, but I will sip miso soup while I do it, and think, thank you.

(Yep, threw up all morning. Didn't even have anything to throw up after the first round; it was mostly stomach acid and a few sips of water. But I took Dramamine (actually for montion sickness) and passed out until around 5pm. Which by the way, what the heck is with the Dramamine package with "MOTION SICKNESS" written in giant letters across the box? I can't imagine pulling that out for a re-dose on public trans, too embarassing.)
