DC Museum PSA (and are Brooklynites special?)

For those of you in the DC area, the recently re-opened National Portrait Gallery is due to take down their portrait competition on the 19th, and if you're looking for something to do this weekend, it's absolutely worth a trip - it's a great exhibit (my favorite, which is made of hand-dyed light bright pegs. I know, it makes you cringe - but read the title, and then the summary. I just freaking love this).

If you go to the gallery, don't forget to see the Bill Clinton portrait by Nelson Shanks, which a lot of people think looks like Ted Koppel.

Incidently, something like 65% of the competition winners (yes, I counted) are from Brooklyn. Is there something in the water there?
