The Altoids Tin Re-Use Contest - How much do I love that they're doing this? Once last fall,
Arabella and
Moeyknight and I stayed up all night making
marble magnets - like 87,000 of them - and put them in Altoids tins to give to those not fortunate enough to have marble magnets of their own.
Since them, I've been strangely fond of Altoids tins.
And this is great -
ApartmentTherapy's First Annual Smallest, Coolest Apartment Contest. I rent a
600sq foot studio apartment, which was converted from an old dairy
warehouse, in the historic district of a small town, and have come to
love small apartments. A
co-worker has recently been telling me how I should "stop throwing
money away on rent" and buy a place.
While I certainly appreciate the
benefits of owning - I have friends who own some great places, and I'd like to own a place some day,
after a conversation with
Zsenya,
I've
decided I'm good to rent right now - I have wood floors,
12' ceilings, a brand new
gigantic window air conditioning unit
(and I've loved those since I was a kid, when Dad put two in our house circa
pre-central air days),
rent that's much less than any mortgage
you can get where I live, and
I can walk to work, my doctor, the grocery, the coffee shop where they
call
my name when I walk in the door,
both banks, my mechanic, the old
movie theatre that they restored, my yoga class, and my art class.
So, if you're bored, I'd love it if you answered my Not Really a Poll
Because I'm Running Late questions so that I can be less bored later
today:
1. Do you rent (or live in school housing) or own where you live?
2. What do you like/dislike about doing so?
3.
Is your place small or big and do you like it that way?
4. Done anything good recently in terms of decorating/storage that you're willing to share?
5. Can tell me what I can do with all of those
Altoids tins I've been saving now that I'm finished with my marble
magnet phase?
