So, it's hard to believe that a month ago Joe and I were in Oklahoma City, half way to our new home.
It's been a month now since we first arrived in College Station and so much has changed. Joe and I started school this week which brings a whole new aspect to our lives. Joe seems to really enjoy classes. I know he has been looking foward to this day for some time now. He is glad to be back in school and on his way to a degree. I on the other hand am struggling a bit. I swear half the time my Math prof is speaking another language (he in fact is....it Math-ese) but he's an american prof. My other class that I am sitting in on is nice...slow, but nice...but that could be because it was designed for sophomores and there are 2 of us grad students sitting in on it for an independent study! The other class has barely started, mostly he has introduced the vascular system and some diseases. Both of the last 2 are taught by my advisor. Admits all of this I and Heather (the other new PhD student) are supposed to be looking stuff up for what we might want to research....not going so well just yet. We have observed a couple of the other grad student's experiments and they seem interesting, but not sure it would hold my interest for 4 years, or that there is much room for another person.
Joe is working several hours a week, which he has to cut back some in order to have a reasonable amount of time to study. But nonetheless, between my class schedule and his class and work schedule we rarely see each other. Right now I have been heading out early from my "research time" to be able to see my husband other than at 10:30 at night. We aren't even up at the same times in the morning. This has also added an interesting aspect to our lives.
We are well settled into the apartment now and into our lives...kinda. There is definitely still some adjustments to things. I am liking Texas more and more. Although, it just isn't Nebraska. I think I will never like it in the same way, they are 2 very great places. Although I am a football fan, I can't seem to get into the whole Aggie Football scene...there is a game tomorrow, but I would much rather be tuning into the Husker game, which I just discovered will in fact be televised HERE!!!
Ok, me thinks this is enough ramblings...
I so rarely hear from any friends back home...from either home Illinois or NE...not that it is not partially my fault as well, but drop me a line if you get the chance.
