Christmas

So......where has Will been? I'm so glad it's finally Christmas eve. After church tonight....I get to sleep! I’ve been working off all eight cylinders since coming home (now for a week) and I get one day of rest until it starts again. I have been working 8-4 at work for the better part of the week now (since Monday) and I'm freakin' exhausted....even my days off didn't get me any rest, I had to go into Boston for doctor's appointments at 8 and 9 in the morning on two different days. and, the day after Christmas, the freaking outlet mall opens at 8AM!!!!! WTF!! who the hell is going to be there at 8 in the freakin' AM?!? and, since the store has no manager right now and no staff that's older than 18, guess who gets to be mr. hero for the company and get no credit? *sigh* but, as I said, it's now Christmas eve, and I get a respite after church at 11:00 (If it goes to 1AM like last year I'm going to say something to the Reverend.....) and hopeful no family crisis will arise between now and then that will ruin the day. but anyway, as I usually say something about Christmas at this time, here goes:
Christmas may mean a bunch of gifts under the tree or maybe a bit of partying at the office or school. Christmas may mean that we run around without a care in the world about who thinks what of us, what we think of others, and come together in the spirit of the season. Christmas may mean getting together with family members we haven't seen for a while, other's we wish we weren't seeing and sometimes not seeing any at all. Christmas may mean a giant Turkey on the table, a giant spiral ham on the table, other large portions of meat on the table, or sometimes nothing at all. Christmas may mean all of these things, but in the hustle and bustle of the season, we sometimes forget what Christmas really is....the celebration of the birth of a man who had the passion to stand up to the mightiest people of his time, a simple carpenter who had the courage of armies, the compassion of a million men, and the message that all who would follow him would have an eternal life. the man, of course, we know. What Christmas really is is reminding ourselves about Him, and remembering what He stood for, and following an example that flows over centuries, allowing us to help the poor and downtrodden, and bring about a better world for everyone.

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, to everyone who is:
Missing someone
Wanting to have someone to miss
Our troops in the field
Our troops at home
The people who protect us, educate us and inspire us
The disillusioned
The unfortunate
The sad
The joyous
Our families
Our friends
And anyone else not already mentioned above.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all.
