Title: A Lack of Color
Series: Death Cab for Cutie
Author: kizzia
Beta: ladyprydian (who was awesome with less than 24 hours notice)
Rating: PG-13
Status: Complete - approx 3,300 words.
Warnings, kinks and contents: John Watson character study, images of war, mentions of depression,
Disclaimer: Don't own, don't claim, not making any profit.
Summary: Mycroft was right. John wasn’t traumatised by the war, he missed it. And nothing evidenced the stark contrast between his current existence and the life he’d lost more than the moments between dreaming and waking.
This is a look at John as he was at the very start of A Study in Pink and my offering in honour of UK Armed Forces Day.
Authors note: This is part of my Death Cab for Cutie series (hence the spelling of color in the title) and focuses very much on Captain Watson's experiences in Afghanistan. I would normal baulk at putting a glossary at the front of a fic but there are some military terms in here that John would use as a matter of course which many of you may not recognise so I hope you will all forgive me.

You can read this on LJ, AO3 or FF.net

character: sherlock holmes, series one, genre: character study, character: john watson, rating: g, type: fic
