Free Episodes of BBC Costume Dramas on US iTunes

As of this morning, iTunes store had the first episodes of a bunch of costume dramas free for download, including the 1995 Pride and Prejudice, the 2009 Emma with Romola Garai, Little Dorrit, Bleak House, Cranford, and Tess of the D'urbervilles.  So if you haven't seen any of these and want to or just want to own a digital copy, have fun!  It made ( Read more... )

I'm amused that I own all the ones you listed except for Cranford. I read the book, however.

I own about half, but I've seen them all (well, except Tess, cause Thomas Hardy depresses me), but it was just cool to see them pop up for free--gotta love freebies. :) And Cranford is great--I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would.

I know the miniseries Cranford is a combination of a few Gaskell stories. The book itself was a little boring. I RACED through reading Tess, only to bawl at the end. Made myself watch the movie anyway, since I paid too much for it. I know now to always finish the book before buying the movie.

Yea, it is a combination, but it works really well. And since there are so many main characters played by familiar BBC players, its fun to play the "guess what they've been in!" game. :)

Oh Tess. I did the same thing, although I knew how it was gonna end. One of the few valuable things I took away from my English degree: Thomas Hardy is *always* depressing.
