I haven't seen this season yet, too afraid of wether or not i would be disappointed with what the writers would do to our Beloved Captain Minister.

I hate the fact that 'it's drama so someone has to die' and as it couldn't be one of the main boys or their lady loves,

This is what gets me the most. Why couldn't they have taken Aramis instead? Would have fit his storyline, and at least you can be sure Aramis' death would have been about Aramis, while, the way it is, Treville's death isn't about Treville. Not even his funeral is. Not even the few times characters mention him after his death are about Treville. :/

If you have to kill a character at least be respectful to the character and their fans. Don't kill them to advance someone else's character developmet. Don't kill them if you can't give the fans time to mourn. Don't kill them if you can't think of anythig to say about them than empty phrases.

I'm just so tired of everyone and everything pullig the same stunt to coax some tears from the disinterested viewers. And it's always the same character archetypes that go, and they just happen to be the ones I like the most. Up until this point Musketeers was good about removing the mentor figure without killing them, but in the end they couldn't resist as if they don't know what else to do with them, even though there's so much Treville could have done in the finale - things that I wanted to see him do - that would have taken away nothing from what else happened in that episode.

It's gotten to a point where I just don't wanna look new stories in any medium anymore, because they're all the same. (It's incidentally why I was so happy with series of Endeavour this year. They toy with that nasty trope all series long only to spit in its face in the most amazing manner in the finale. ♥ I just wish s3 of the Musketeers had this same level of self-awareness. Or, well, at least some respect for Treville. :( )

Oh gosh, and now I rambled again, I'm sorry. I'll take myself out.

I thought the whole scene in the bar was really poorly scripted. It just came over as cheesy. Empty phrases is right.

I think they did it because it's 'expected' and it pave the way for the Annamis ending, which to me was just bloody ridiculous. The ending could have been so much better. But at the end of the day, my vision of how the show should have been ended was vastly different from that of the new showrunners.

*hugs* It was horrible for those who love Treville. Showrunners really need to learn to play like nice puppies with their toys.
