ARTIST MIXER POST #1

Apr 26, 2009 10:56

Hey, artists! It's great to have our people back from last year, and to have so many new people signed up. We're changing the claiming process slightly from last year - instead of making an individual post for each story, we're going to make several lump posts. For now, we're only putting up summaries 1-80 for claiming; we know there are more than eighty of you, so don't worry - as soon as every summary on this post is claimed, a new post will go up. Please check the comments before and after you make a claim, to make sure no one has already claimed it. To claim, comment to this post with your email address and the summary number you chose.

Summaries in bold have already been claimed by an artist.

PATD, TAI, CS, MCR
Jon/Spencer (Ryan/Brendon, Gabe/William, very vague MCR pairs)

Jon has picked up and moved across the country to a tiny little town on the west coast where the ocean beats at his front door and the sun comes out for only hours at a time. After taking over Tom’s business, he finds that the town is not all that he has perceived it to be, especially his coworker Brendon whom no one in town will explain a thing about.

Jon gets more than he bargained for with this move, especially when it comes to the house on the hill and the shrouded mystery about its inhabitant. Obsessing is not a usual activity for Jon, but the house, and the guy who lives there, are too curious to leave alone. Jon may be in over his head this time.

FOB
Pete/Patrick
AU. sequel to existing story.

No one ever said revenge was going to be easy, least of all Patrick Stump. In the middle of trying to save souls--and thus, redeem his own--he has to deal with balancing dating a human and sending people to hell, not to mention someone new sticking her nose in where it's definitely not wanted. When Katy's machinations make him snap and kidnap Pete, can Bill overcome his desperate fear of Ashlee, Bob and Andy to save him? Or does Hell always win?

#3 CLAIMED

MCR, PATD, FOB, GCH, CS, TAI.

This company is called Clandestine Industries. We work at the headquarters. Pete owns the premises, and he’s the one who created the symbol that’s all over the place. It called the bartskull - it’s a bat, a heart and a skull. Pete has it tattooed on his body, but I’m not telling you where because you’ll probably freak, and Pete will show you soon enough anyway, he takes any opportunity to flash it,’ Patrick rolled his eyes at Brendon, who inclined his head to show he was still listening.

'Okay, we’re an apparel company, meaning we design and create numerous pieces of clothing and footwear to distribute and sell. We get a pretty good business, because scene kids seem to have a thing for the designs. There are a whole heap of people in this building, but we mostly stay on the ground floor, this one, because the other two are taken up by stock and a lot of other crap. Right now, we want you as someone who sorts out paperwork and filing. Are you up for it?’

Brendon nodded and Patrick went through his salary, working hours, the company uniform (“Wear whatever the hell you want, Brendon, seriously, no one cares around here”), the company policies (“Uh, not many rules around here, just do what Pete tells you, unless it’s sexual, in that case he’s all talk and absolutely no action, so you know, there’s no need to report him or anything”) and all the other essential stuff, then Patrick was pushing some paperwork towards Brendon and oh hey, sign here, initials here, full name there, and you’ve got yourself pretty much the coolest job you will ever be offered, kid.

As soon as Brendon signed the dotted line, Patrick grinned and reached across the desk to shake his hand.

‘Congratulations, Brendon. You’re now the latest addition to the Clandestine family.’

And, holy shit. What a family it was.

#4 CLAIMED

MCR (PATD, FOB, CS, TAI)
Frank/Gerard, Ryan/Brendon/Spencer

Set in the future, where humans are on the brink of evolution. For the select few born with a special awareness of their own minds - an awareness which gives them abilities beyond the norm, life is suddenly a very dangerous thing. Frightened of what this could mean, the government set out to make this new race of humans extinct, telling the public that these people are mentally unstable defectives and must be kept under observation for the safety of the public.

All of this brings together a rather odd troupe of people, hiding from the government and eventually having to protect one of their own when he's taken into custody. Superpowers rescue mission!

Featuring telepathic!Gerard and Bob, telekinetic!Ryan, superspeed!Brendon, pyro!Frank, healer!Patrick, destroyer!Gabe, empath!Spencer, futureteller!Mikey and poor, normal ol' Pete.

This is where he expects them to either herd him out onto the street or call the police. With a sidelong glance, Gerard can see their refrigerator and there’s no mistaking the red flyer stuck to it. He’s seen them more times than he’d like to count, though he tries not to. They’re the flyers the government released last month declaring it every citizen’s duty to keep an eye out for what they called ‘mutant defects’, people with a ‘disease’ inside their brain which leads them to believe they can do extraordinary things. Gerard’s well aware that the entire campaign is just to make the people think they’re deranged and have them all locked up as soon as possible. In order to keep the peace, the flyer dictates calmly that people will be cared for and treated where they can no longer harm society. And yeah, Gerard supposes, if you count killing someone as treating them.

Warnings: character death.

Superpower/Superhero AU with inspiration from sources including, but not limited to Watchmen, X-Men, and The Umbrella Academy.

The remaining four members of the group are barred from investigating the death, prompting them to go back to their (now illegalized) vigilante ways. Pete/Patrick (Ryan/Brendon, Jon/Tom, Frank/Gerard, Andy/Mixon etc)

Pete runs a matchmaking service. He's in love with his secretary Mikey, and has his friends Andy and Patrick doing the formulas for him. His two biggest problems (other than getting Mikey to notice him) are clients he calls Italian Frank and Impossible Brendon. Pete does his best to get his clients matched up with someone who can at least tolerate them, and ends up making things a lot worse before they get better.

Frank/Gerard
Warnings: violence, character death.

While on leave from the police force, Detective Frank Iero occupies himself with three things: drinking, brawling, and being alone. But when a series of brutal murders calls him back to active duty, he must find a killer while confronting people from his past, including estranged best friend turned businessman Mikey Way, and deal with his unwilling attraction to Mikey's enigmatic older brother Gerard.

#10 CLAIMED

MCR, PATD
Bob/Brian (past, unrequited), Brendon/Spencer (unrequited both ways), Bob/Spencer

Love stories aren't always pretty or neat. Some fizzle out in a haze of regrets and changing priorities, some end in rejection and furious rethinking of one's sense of self. Some don't end; not within the confines of the story, anyway.

This fic tells the story of three love affairs. Bob and Brian struggle to connect beyond drunken hook ups in the face of the secrets that Brian keeps and Bob's inability to reach out to him. Brendon and Spencer break apart before they ever get together when Brendon can't let go of his upbringing. By the time he makes that change, it's too late. When Bob and Spencer meet, they are bruised and hurt. Fortunately, they find something in each other that they can build on, until they can take a chance on happiness together.

Set when Panic is just starting out, this is a story of tour and hotel rooms as well as places that people make into homes. It's a story about changing and growing, and discovering what you really want. It's about letting go of the things that you can't have, and dealing with the ache of regret. It's about love.

#11 CLAIMED

PATD-centric, with other Bandom members milling about the place
Brendon/Ryan, Jon/Spencer (Gabe/William, Tom/Haley, Spencer/Haley, Brendon/Tom, Brendon/Cash, more mentioned)

In which Brendon cleans the apartment of published author Ryan Ross to finance his college studies, and Spencer opens up an Indian style café and hires Jon to brew his fair trade coffee.

Brendon sorts through Ryan’s bathroom utensils while Nirvana is blasting from the speakers in the living room. Two tubes of toothpaste join a peaceful parade next to lip balm, moisturizing cream, aftershave and eyeliner that appears to have dried up.

It honestly wouldn’t have taken Spencer’s insinuation to figure out that Ryan’s not entirely straight.

To be fair, the lube in the bedroom drawer was a tiny clue, too, and yes, Brendon might have been snooping just a little. Anyone who’s in the middle of reading Ryan’s book would be curious, and Brendon’s especially curious where Ryan hides all the drugs he must have been doing during the writing process, churning out page after page when he was only nineteen. Against the background of Behind the Sea, it’s also easier to make sense of the scribbled notes Ryan leaves lying around, the tone and particular way in which Ryan phrases things slightly more familiar. Some of them have Brendon’s fingers itching with music. Ryan’s writing is even more lyrical when it’s torn out of context, isn’t bundled up neatly within a chapter.

Brendon refrains. It’s really not his place to leave a mark like that on things he’s merely supposed to straighten up.

Bob is a mechanic passing through town who somehow gets roped into it. Mikey is Brian’s best friend, who laughs at his great idea, and refuses to participate, except to help him hire drivers. Frank/Gerard
Warnings for underage sex & drug use.

When Gerard signed the admissions paperwork for the Fordhaver School for Boys, he knew he was signing up for four years of sexual frustration. No one was gay at Fordhaver; Gerard was certain that he would be a virgin until he graduated. In his senior year, though, this stupid gay freshman named Frank disproves Fordhaver's straightness, and throws Gerard's entire world out of wack.

Now, in between drawing, avoiding bullies, running an incredibly serious tabletop RP game, failing out of math, and hanging out with friends, Gerard is also busy kind of falling for this asshole who's way too young for him. It's not what he planned on, but it's what's happening. In conclusion: high school sucks.

"Gerard wasn't even thinking about Frank like that. He wasn't. Gerard has appreciated Frank's ass aesthetically, sure, and he maybe once thought about making out with Frank in a strictly cinematic point-proving way, but Gerard hasn't had dick-touching thoughts about Frank at all. But Mikey saying something about Frank and boning (and the Misfits, shit) kind of makes Gerard think about it, a tiny little bit."

Grease AU. The story of Frank Iero and Gerard Way's hair gel and comic book-fueled romance, along with plenty of pining and all the 50's slang you can handle. Includes the adventures of Patrick Stump the disgruntled beautician, Ryan Ross the genderless scarf-thing, and Gabe Saporta as himself.

At that moment, Patrick emerged from his closet with a pair of pants that looked like, when worn, they would be tight enough to actually kill a person dead. They weren't quite jeans, but they weren't quite anything else, either.

"There is no way I'm wearing those pants," said Gerard. He really, really wanted to wear the pants.

Ryan/Brendon, Jon/Spencer, Jon/Brendon, Jon/Spencer/Brendon, Spencer/Brendon, culminating in Panic GSF.

Teenage Brendon had his religious crisis, but Brent never introduced him to Ryan and Spencer. Bden’s parents got him counselling and he was prescribed Adderall which helped get over his crisis because it mostly stopped him caring about anything at all. His mission eventually takes him to Chicago and moves into the same apartment complex as Jon, Spence and Ryan.

Ryan, Jon and Spencer are all stupid for each other and miserable about it, refusing to act on it, until their friendship has become really awkward and painfully destructive. When Brendon arrives, he’s what they all don’t realise they need.

This is the story of how they form the band and become lovers. I’d like to stress the fact that I see GSF as a poly-amorous relationship, not just, you know, group sex. Also, this is pretty heavy on the angst and the porn.

Set five and a half/six years in the future, the story starts just as Jon and Cassie finally break things off. Jon engages in an ill-advised (and CLEARLY not well-thought out) rebound fling with Brendon, who, despite being aware of the facts, misreads the situation. Needing to get away, Brendon takes a road trip, but once he's on the road, he decides that he actually needs to get away, and makes the conscious choice to hide from the other guys.

Over the course of a year, Brendon spends time trying to figure out who the hell he is when he's not "of Panic at the Disco." Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the guys are flipping out. They can't find Brendon, his family has made it clear they won't tell them where he is, and they're unsure how, exactly, to be a band without Brendon. They spend that year trying to figure that out, to pretty much come to the decision that they can't, which is when Pete -- who found Brendon early on, but made a promise not to tell where he was -- breaks his promise to Brendon and tells the guys where they can find him.

The guys go to get him back, but Brendon's pretty afraid that if he comes back, he'll end up just being this guy who gives into whatever they want, anytime they ask, and so there's a negotiation process, and Brendon agrees to come on a short, small tour with them, to see if they can work things out. The rest of the fic is about them figuring their problems out, and, well, remembering that they're totally in love with each other.

The air seems thicker, harder to take into his lungs, so he breathes deeper to compensate. From across the room, he sees Ryan's eyes go wide, perhaps in realization, and Brendon thinks bitterly, yes, yes you'd know, wouldn't you? The one in which Jon likes his girls feminine and his guys masculine. Also the one in which Spencer grows up and starts looking like a real boy. (Spoiler: These things are not unrelated.)

Jon first learned about the Kinsey scale when he was about seventeen. And if zero is completely heterosexual, and six is completely homosexual? Jon Walker is a three. So very much a three.

So basically, when Jon joined Panic! at the Disco, he knew that if he fucked up his big chance at being in a band, it wouldn't be because he was attracted to one of his bandmates. The members of Panic were kind of the furthest thing from his type as he could get. Everything was fine.

Until one morning, when Jon got off a plane in Las Vegas, Nevada for some quality band-bonding time and did a double-take when he spotted the bandmates picking him up. There was Ryan, tall and skinny in skinnier jeans and an old hoodie. And then there was Spencer. Spencer Fucking Smith. Looking all kinds of grown up and, well, manly.

Brendon's grown up in Society 13. He doesn't like it, but at least he's used to it. The same routines, the same people, the knowledge that nothing will ever change; he's accepted it all. But when the infamous Ryan Ross appears out of nowhere, Brendon's precariously tipped world goes tumbling as he struggles to learn the ropes of the society he's set to rule and stay "just friends" with the new kid after one anonymous, heated night.
In other words: Brendon's a future leader. Ryan's the new kid. Jon and Spencer are in love and they don't know it.. Greta can fix anything. Nothing ever really gets solved.
In Society 13, nobody really knows anything.

“Why are you looking at me like I’m crazy?”

“Because you are crazy,” Jon looks proud that he finally can answer a question, and I raise my eyebrows.

“I’m crazy? You guys are the ones acting like you don’t know that the word happy means,” I laugh at the absurd thought.. I mean, even at the upper-level we’re repressed and brainwashed to a fairly high extent, but we at least know about human emotions.

I lean forward to take a bite of my sandwich and stop halfway there. Jon and Spencer haven’t said anything. I slowly lower my sandwich back down to my plate.

Brendon Urie didn't want to be a hooker, and he's not. He's a homeless kid, who could just go home, tell his parents that he will go to the sexual identity camp, and go back to living his normal life. All he has to do is say he's sorry and that he doesn't like boys anymore and that he really does want to go on his mission and Choose The Right.

Only, he's been OK for the last 6 months. He's stretched his savings out by sleeping in hostels or in the park when it's nice enough. He picks up odd jobs when he can, because no one will actually hire an 18 year old kid with no references or permanent address.

In the park, a photographer named Shane gives him work when he can, and Brendon's grown to trust him, even though Shane has no idea that he's homeless and doesn't have enough money to get him through the winter safely. And it's Shane that Brendon asks to be his first ever client.

Shane, while very interested in Brendon, is not so interested in Brendon being a hooker, decides that Brendon should come and live with him. Which is a combination of awesome and stupid, because he can't really start a relationship with someone who once solicited him and is now living for free in what used to be the room where he dumped things he didn't want to clean up.

And Brendon, he's just not right, and Shane knows that it's not a romance novel, and Brendon's not going to be healed with a magical declaration of love. It'd be awesome, but it's not going to happen, but Shane's feelings grow stronger and he's not alone in that.

When they start dating, it's awkward because it's a kiss at the front door goodnight and then back into the same house, and there's still so much that Brendon hasn't told Shane. And it's not really until the police show up on their doorstep to declare him officially off the Missing Person's list that Shane really begins to see the whole picture.

Brendon figures it's just what he needs to finally get over Ryan. He just never expected that getting over Ryan would also include falling for Ryan's best friend. The first fic--The Temptation of Ryan Ross--goes through their relationship as Ryan learns to accept and come to like Brendon. And come to like Brendon. Because of a mishap in guessing his gender, Brendon's been raised by previous owners to think he's a girl. This results in a sexpollen-like heat for Brendon, and lots of sex for Ryan. Finally, after an innocuous lunch with his BFF Spencer, Ryan realizes that he actually is sort of in love with Brendon. He shows this to Brendon in the form of a box of kittens, since biologically, Brendon can not have them and they're all he's ever wanted. Happiness ensues with kittens.

The second fic--Trials and Tribulations of Pumpkin Dumplings--follows Pete and his cat (Patrick, whose point of view it is) who pees everywhere whenever Pete calls him Pumpkin Dumplings. After Brendon's transformation, Pete begs Patrick to become a human, too, because he's pretty sure Patrick would be the best person ever. Patrick finally, after a lot of badgering (and one heartfelt admission) wishes and transforms into a human for Pete. Patrick starts to realize that he maybe doesn't hate Pete so much (even if he definitely hates his fucking name) and they end up together (a couple!, Pete says vehemently). Patrick doesn't want kittens, though. Pete's enough trouble as it is. A nice Gibson, perhaps...

Finally, in The Tales of Brendon Urie, esq., we follow Brendon from his birth, to his placement in his second home, to running away to Ryan's house.
