Checking In

Sep 23, 2008 17:10

Hey. Just checking in. It's been a while, huh? Yeah, sorry about that. It's just that Test Season started (it's still going on), and well, I guess the New Blog Fever went away, so...

But everything's okay, really. I haven't done much, actually. Let's see... I did read a lot. Here's a list of all I read these last 4 weeks:

1. Just Listen - Sarah Dessen
2. Pretty Little Liars - Sarah Shepard
3. Gossip Girl 5 - Cecily Von Ziegesar
4. Gossip Girl 6 - Cecily Von Ziegesar
5. Gossip Girl 7 - Cecily Von Ziegesar
6. Twilight - Stephenie Meyer

They were all pretty great. I really enjoyed "Just Listen". It's a rather easy reading, the kind of book that's able to relax you.

But the golden medal definitely goes to Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight". What can I say? WOW. Seriously, I think it might've been the best book I ever, ever read. Those who know me, or read a lot of entries in this and previous blog, know how much I love Meg Cabot and how obsessed I am with her books. You also know how The Princess Diaries series is close to my heart. So, don't get me wrong, I mean, I do still love Meg's books, and The Princess Diaries will probably remain to be my favorite book, cause it just had such an emotional impact on me the first time I read it (the second, third and fourth times too, actually).

But "Twilight" was just so well-written. I mean, it's hard to believe that was Stephenie's debut novel, cause the writing was really so mature. The truth is, her book is not just the ultimate page turner. I guess I just really loved the perspective she used to tell her story. Plus, the fact that Bella wasn't exactly afraid of Edward was just brilliant. I mean, when I first heard of her book, I was like "Oh, great. Another freking vampire story. Couple falls in love, girl finds out boy's a vampire and runs away, so vampire chases her throughout the book, until he gets her in the end. Ooh, so good! Not."

But I am happy to say that I was completely wrong. In fact, I couldn't possibly have been more wrong. It was so not like that. And the way she described the scenes and the character's feelings, it just made me feel like I was right there with them all the time. Every time he got closer to her, I holded my breath, waiting to see what he'd do. I just wanted them to get together, so much.

Congrats, Stephenie Meyer. Your novel rocked my world, and I can't wait to read the sequel. Hopefully, I'll start reading "New Moon" later today. Cross your fingers!

Well, other than that, not really much happened. I didn't go to the movies, I didn't really go out that much at all. Just one afternoon at the mall with my cousin, and that was it. The only movie I watched ("Bridge to Terabithia" and "Little Manhattan" excepted, since I've seen them a couple hundread times - I watched them about once a week this month, except for this one week when I watched "Bridge" three times) was "Whole Nine Yards", which was good.

I've been going to the square with my friends a lot. Only on Fridays. though. It's been fun. We walk over to this delly a few blocks aways and have cheeseburgers. They're really tasty. We also go to the supermarket - which is about 10 blocks away or so - to buy a ball. We do that every week, too. You see, the balls we buy only last for the night, cause we either lose them or throw them in front of car. Yeah, we're clumsy like that.

Anyway, it's really cool. We've been having a blast.

Well, I think I'm gonna jet now. I wanna write in BR blog, read "New Moon", work on my book, and watch The OC, all before 9. It's 5:30, so... Things aren't really looking too good. I just remembered I also have to get the curly up my hair. Oh, well. C'est la vie.

So, see you later? I'll try to keep my visits to about once every two weeks or so... Okay, then. Bye-bye.
