Website Comment Notifications
While we're currently in the home stretch of mirroring everything at our website (less than nine issues' worth of stories left to go!), we've also added a feature that has made all of us very excited: comment notifications.
We've always had it set up so that you could receive responses via email to any comment you yourself left. However, now if you're the author, the artist, or just a fan of a particular submission, you can get an email notification whenever anyone leaves a comment on the entry. Here's how:
1. Find the entry whose comments you want to follow.
2. Go down to the very bottom of the page, down to where it says "Notify me of follow-up comments via email. You can also subscribe without commenting."
3. Then either:
a) Select whether you want to be notified of all comments or just replies to your own comment, then post your comment; or,
b) Click the 'subscribe' link to subscribe without commenting.
To then manage your subscriptions, you can go to this page and enter your email address. You'll get an email with a link to a page with a system-generated list of entries you've subscribed to; there you can set for each entry whether you want to be notified about all comments, just when someone replies to one of your comments, or not at all. If you have a WordPress account already and are logged in, the page should generate for you automatically without your having to enter an email address.*
For the privacy-concerned: Though the WordPress system requires you to enter a valid email address so it can track and compile relevant data for you, we humans on the editorial staff will likely never even look at it, and we'll absolutely never use it for anything other than this purpose. As our email announcements newsletter promises, we don’t do anything with your information other than email you about porn.
There aren't a lot of comments period on the site at the moment, so if you've wanted a good reason to start saying nice, encouraging things to the authors and artists whose work you've enjoyed, here it is!
