special issue reminder and beta signup

Mar 02, 2012 07:39

This is the beta sign-up post for the March special ladies issue; the deadline for that issue is Tuesday, March 13. If you would like to beta-read for the upcoming issue, comment here with the number of stories you're willing to handle, any other notes on your betaing style (e.g., if you're willing to help with issues other than spelling/grammar, such as plot, characterization, prose flow), and the best way to get in touch with you.

You may comment here also if you need a beta reader for your submission, particularly if you have specific issues with your story that you think might benefit from a new set of eyes. Please indicate clearly whether you're seeking a beta or volunteering as one.

To avoid blind-leading-the-blind situations, please volunteer as a beta reader only if you yourself are confident of your spelling, grammar and syntax, and that words mean what you think they mean when you use them in sentences. As a minimum, you must be able to fix the majority of the problems listed in the resources linked from the Writing Aids and Standards post.

As with illustrators, please contact beta readers by responding directly to the comments.

Don't forget also that signups for the April Crime and Punishment issue are open as well! And if you haven't read our Hooray for Hollywood issue -- or gotten to look at/comment upon the digital version -- well, you should!

For those of you who've read the digital version, please let us know what you thought! The more feedback and discussion we can get, the better we can make the next edition. Putting that together is an awful lot of work, and we want to make sure that all of that effort is going toward creating the best viewing experince possible -- but we don't read minds. We can't promise everyone's preferences will be accommodated, but we can absolutely promise they'll all be considered.
