Since the due date for
the WILD WILD WEST issue is now one month away (to the day!), well, why not let the early beta get the worm? If you know what I mean....
...We'll pretend you don't. Anyway, the editorial staff will be half-staffed in the days leading up to the aforementioned deadline, on account of ths editor's having a pesky little sister what needs marryin' off (and in Texas, no less!*), so for this issue, more critically than usual, having crises sooner is much better than having crises later.
beeblebabe may be much nicer than I am, but there's still only one of her.
Thus, let's make this the beta signup post! If you would like to beta-read for the upcoming issue, comment here with the number of stories you're willing to handle, any other notes on your betaing style (e.g., if you're willing to help with issues other than spelling/grammar, such as plot, characterization, prose flow), and the best way to get in touch with you.
You may comment here also if you need a beta reader for your submission, particularly if you have specific issues with your story that you think might benefit from a new set of eyes. Please indicate clearly whether you're seeking a beta or volunteering as one!
To avoid blind-leading-the-blind situations, please volunteer as a beta reader only if you yourself are confident of your spelling, grammar and syntax, and that words mean what you think they mean when you use them in sentences. As a minimum, you must be able to fix the majority of the problems listed in the resources linked from the
Writing Aids and Standards post.
As with illustrators, please contact beta readers by responding directly to the comments.
And by the way, if you're not
following us on Twitter, you are missing out on some quality cowboyspiration. I'm just saying. Quality.
*I'll even be wearing cowboy boots, no joke.
