I just love this story, Its very interesting to know that the commander who has taking Yannis in is probably Jacobus's father. And I have a feeling that is the reason the old Titus is so hateful to Jacobus, he probably knows or suspects. Like you say they have spies every where, someone sleeping with someone else wife would not be a secret for long. It is interesting that the commander also figured Yannis out and that he is hard on Jacobus not only to make him stronger and ready for battle but also because he has fallen in love with him and he is fighting his own demons so to speak. I think as much as Jacobus resents the treatment and humiliating he has to endure, there is also great respect for Yannis and I would think love is blossoming on both sides. As the commander said may the Gods protect them all. I have read a great deal of Roman history and the series of I Claudius on BBC comes to mind it was so marvelous to really learn more about the Roman Emperors. But that was many years ago.
I admire you both for writing with so much knowledge and making history a pleasure to read.
Thank you both.
Love,
Torry

Thank you so much for your comment. I'm glad you are enjoying the story and I hope we won't disappoint or screw with history too badly.
