Seriously The Prestige is just an awesome film. I've just seen it for a 3rd time and everything about it is so wonderfully crafted. The film is completely without twists, you have no reason to think that Vader would be Luke's father, there's little reason to expect that the planet was Earth all along. Everything that happens in The Prestige is crafted so obviously that the "twist" is merely a reveal of what should already be known, but for reasons Michael Caine spells out for you at both the beginning and the end of the film. Even among the nods and winks towards how it unfolds there's further metaphors hidden behind more than just the dialogue about where things are going.

Upon more viewings I feel pretty silly for totally not working all of the movie out straight away, but that's just the wonderful skill of Jonathan Nolan's adapation and Christopher's direction. Wonderful movie and definately squeezing it's way somewhere into my top 20 but I shudder to think what'll be pushed out because of it. Seeing the film for the first time is fun and you instantly have a good impression of it, but the fact that a film of this nature can truly still be admired upon multiple viewings is credit to Nolan, Bale and Jackman (whose performance I finally paid attention to on my third viewing after calming down my Bale orgasms).

Also BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is also frakking wonderful. Recently seen Season 3's mid-season closer (which has about five cliffhangers) and opener. The things Ronald D. Moore thinks of is shocking. Sometimes the show makes me wish I was religious so that I could get further attached to a side (or sometimes I wish that my parents were uber-religious and that I could dance about their office naked waving porn mags everywhere to resent God). Adama is so hardcore, Helo goes from my least favourite to most favourite character and back continuously. Everyone is probably a Cylon or maybe No-one is, I just have no idea, and urgh.

Apparently the next 3 or 4 episodes are going to take a dip, but I find that slightly difficult to believe considering the jumps of locations of characters the last two episodes have led us. And then after that I'm up to Maelstrom, which I know NOTHING about beyond the fact that there will be tears, rivers of tears.

And in 3 days North America will have Season 3 all wrapped up and I'm going to avoid SA TVIV forums a fair deal... maybe.
