*pokepoke* Is it, you know, alive? O.O

Thanks to Grygon's awesomesauce post over at curio-collector, I was made aware of this crazy-awesome thing called REVERSE LENS MACROooo!!!

An immediate urge of 'must research this!' and 'hey, I've got these awesome dead things that I've not posted about before' and you get these:

What is it?

A pink-toe tarantula shed. I was at PetCo the other day to survey their driftwood and plant selections (again). I always look at their creepy crawlies to feed the 'I must have theeeesssesee!' cravings that rage inside me. It took me a moment to find the tarantulas because they'd made webs on the sides of their tanks and I spotted the shed in one of the tanks. After a chat with my cashier friend and her manager, my friend fished the shed out for me (the manager's scared of spiders -- he unlocked the door for us and high-tailed it, haha) and I took it home.

For the record, I really don't like PetCo except for their live plant selection and my cashier friend. And also, I want to get a cornsnake at some point -- tarantulas, scorpions, and chameleons are way cool and all, but my heart is set on cornsnakes. An Okeetee or Miami variant in particular.

Okay, next one!

What is it?

A sphinx moth!

I got this and the mummified frog (along with a squirrel, two squirrel tails, and a crab-thing) while on in Florida this April.

I found it stuck to the top of a clock so it has a nice curved shape to it. We think it died in the cold snap in March (?).

Bonus picture:

Shot of my snake shed. My friend Hannah found it when she was in SC earlier this year. She brought it home for me and it's way cool. I've not stretched it out all the way, but I'd say it's pushing past three feet long. It's in two pieces and otherwise whole and awesome. More on it later.
