'It is much more sensible to be an optimist instead of a pessimist, for if one is doomed to disappointment, why experience it in advance?'
'One may be determined to embrace martydom gracefully, but a day of reprieve is not to be sneezed at.'
'When one is striding bravely into the future, one cannot watch one's footing.'
'No woman really wants a man to carry her off; she only wants him to want to do it.'
Peabody The Snake, The Crocodile & The Dog
And my favorite Peabody-ism....'A lady cannot be blamed if a master criminal takes a fancy to her'
Without the context, I guess that quote doesn't mean anything...trust me, it's hilarious.
It was a full moon last night, and everyone went nuts. At least, everyone in my immediate vicinity. Fights, shouting, firemen, police....sheesh. I'm not sure why the firemen were there, maybe there was a cat up a tree, it was that insane, I wouldn't be surprised by anything. Ok, I exaggerate (something I never do, usually) but I was not amused.
One more quote! Just for fun:
"Abdullah clapped his hand to his brow. 'Not a dead man, sitt. Not another dead man . . .' A flicker of reviving hope returned to his stricken face. 'Is it a mummy you mean, sitt? An old dead man?'"
"I'm afraid this one is rather fresh . . ."
Why do I have so much trouble with fonts in this confounded journal? Never mind. I'm off.
