hey readers! (whoever you are) friday was my birthday and in celebration, i went to work, danced my little bootie off just like every other day, rented some movies and watched them. thrilling, you say? undoubtedly. i had trouble containing my excitement. however, we decided to have a combined b-day party for some of us who were born around the same time. (we decided that the reason that there are a lot of january birthdays is because our parents must have all had spring fever.) hosting parties here is always interesting, because even though i'm trying to have a good time, i'm still trying to do damage control and make sure our beige carpet doesn't pick up any other coloration. that, and making sure the the music isn't too loud. our upstairs neighbors apparently are free to move FURNITURE every night at around midnight (or whatever loud activity it is they do), but we can't have a tolerably-loud party. whatever.
spin the bottle is apparently our new favorite game. we've played it at the past...4 parties. i'm honesly not surprised at all. most of us - even the ones who are already involved with people - are sexually frustrated (at the very least.) but the bad news (yet again) is that everyone gets what they want, except for me. i'm not trying to be all...sympathy mongering, but it's true. my mom (naive as she's always been) tells me that i'll get my day, but then again her idea of true love is exactly what happens in the movies. although the "meeting" part may be true, what the movies don't show you is all the "after" parts. the "real" parts - the ones that throw hopeless romantics for a loop. in reality, no one is going to give me their number in Borders, no one is going to sit by me in the movie theatre and profess their undying love-at-first-sight, no one is going to see me buying groceries and mysteriously follow me around the store and pretend to be buying the same stuff that i am - just to be near me...no one is going to [insert movie scenario here.] apparently, the day you stop looking for love is the day love will find you. i guess now all i have to hope is that it's the right kind of love, and that it comes at the right time.
