one) the feeling of waking up just one minute too early
two) the feeling of going back to sleep even when you know you shouldn't
three) trying to sleep more while in the shower
four) nutcracker sweet = holiday blended herbal tea
five) rolling my eyes at half-naked roommates
six) warm-up class at 9:15 am, on stage: no mirrors. and the accompanying feeling that i am a suprema ballerina!!
seven) backstage passes for the nutcracker! do i feel like a star? o, of course
eight) dressing up in my party mom costume and then physically staying in character, while verbally deviating and trying to make my "husband" break character on stage. score: me-4, him-2
nine) shopping excursion with jackie (see below)
ten) GAP: brown velvet pants
eleven) GAP: mint green angora/wool/cashmere cable knit sweater with sparkly bead clasp
twelve) GAP: beige top - cotton with silk trim and tie
thirteen) Old Navy: $40 tan, long peacoat with tie belt, originally $68
fourteen) Old Navy: medium brown, cable knit, zip-up sweater
fifteen) buying christmas presents...and then getting stuff for me, too (hehe)
sixteen) knitting with soft yarn
seventeen) giving a standing ovation for the ballerina i really love, even when no one else is standing
eighteen) TRUE STORY - sudden casting changes: janie twists ankle! ailene is the only one who knows her part! can she save the day and do flowers? she only has 10 minutes to mark through the dance before she goes on stage! now folks, remember - this is ailene's first time on stage with a professional ballet company - she hasn't even been doing snow OR flowers for this entire nutcracker! she is just a trainee! will she do it? can she do it? will she screw everything up? NO!!! ailene has done it! her friends taught her the steps and cheered for her from the wings! ailene has saved the day! we're all so proud.
