Just when you thought it was going to be a quiet weekend, Peterborough train station turns out to be THE place to be this weekend.
Friday evening saw a mini-King's Reunion in the form of Sarah's wedding reception in Redditch. With rain and both the M6 and the M42 to navigate it wasn't the most enjoyable of drives, but it was definitely worth the effort to attend - even if it is still kinda weird to think about people who went to school with you getting married already...
Yesterday's massive recovery lie-in was cut short by a text from Adam announcing that flooded train lines meant he'd missed his connection to Leicester and was therefore spending a day in my fair - or should I say tramptastic? - city. Doing my best to show off the many cultural sights of P-Town, we got about as far as the cathedral before deciding to give up on culture and spend the rest of the afternoon down the pub instead.
Unable to resist any longer - well, it had been out for 24 hours by then - I picked up Spore on the way home, only to spend the rest of the day cursing EA for insisting that you connect to the internet to authenticate the installation. If they really think I'm destroying any speed my PC might have by putting AOL onto it they've got another thing coming, and since there are no open wireless networks in the vicinity that I can steal I'm currently unable to play the blasted game.
Bedding down early, I made the mistake of watching Awake in the hopes that it was actually a half decent film. In case you haven't guessed already, it's not. The premise is kinda interesting, but there's barely enough plot to fill 8 minutes, let alone the 80 minute run time. And Hayden Christensen isn't anywhere near sufficiently attractive in the film to keep your attention from wandering. If it's going to cost you more than nothing to see this film, don't bother.
Today's been a relatively lazy day, with the exception of yet another visit to the train station - this time to see Zoya as she made her way on to Birmingham and beyond. If anybody happens to be passing through tomorrow let me know, would be good to make it three for three.
