Train

One of my cousins gets married on June 14th. I've been playing coy all year as to whether I can make it or not, what with it being right at the end of my final year and me not knowing what I'm going to be doing this summer, but since she's one of only three I have I've always kinda felt like I should really be there even though her side of the family - well, Uncle Stan - annoys the hell out of me. Then came the realisation that June 14th is two days after the Graduation Ball which I'll probably still be hungover from. And on the small off chance that my body's recovered from that I'll (hopefully) not have sobered up from the last ever Solution on the 13th.

So I phone home this afternoon to tell Dad there's no way I'll be able to get back to Peterborough in time for them setting off that morning only to discover that Mum was planning on getting there late because we can't leave the dog on his own for a whole day. Suddenly I can reinvestigate whether I can make it or not. After all, I can sleep on the train in the morning and drown myself in eau de toilette to mask out the smell of alcohol. And hey, if it's not too much more I might treat myself and travel first class for once.

But here's the kicker. The main east coast line down to Peterborough's shut that afternoon, so I'll either have to defeat the whole plan and get an early train after all or spend an extra hour navigating three changes and a bus ride. Sorry Maria, looks like I'm not coming after all!
