It's been a while since I've posted here, but I really should, just to keep up with how things are going -- mainly for my own memory, and not really to complain to anyone else.
It's August now, and I've had two relapses. This last one was bad enough to put me back in the hospital, so now Dr. Kelley wants me to go on Copaxone. I'm over my fear of the needle, since being able to do the Avonex, I just don't want to do it every day. But I shall, because I must.
I did a bit of looking around online, and it seems to have a pretty good success rate at keeping relapses at bay (kinda hard to prove a negative, though), but I'm kinda worried about the welts and bruises and hard lumps folks are saying they experience. Apparently, it's a big deal to get it just the right depth under the skin. Not too shallow, not too deep. Eesh. Way too complicated! But I should have a nurse coming to show me how to do it, so hopefully that helps.
The sensations have moved into my right leg now. It's this sunburn-like sensation, and while that was distracting enough, I started having trouble walking. First cane, then walker. I actually fell at work; thankfully, it was in the hallway and no one saw me, so I was able to crawl back to my office so I could get some leverage to get up. So, that's what convinced me to go to the hospital finally.
After four Solu-Medrol treatments, I was a bit more steady on my legs, thought still not even 70%. But over the last couple of weeks, it's gotten better. I finally let go my cane this Monday, and am back to walk unassisted. I just feel kinda dizzy and off-kilter at times. But that's just something I'll have to deal with.
I'll try to come back and update more often, and fill in the blanks until I get caught up.
