The Aftermath

Sep 03, 2008 07:09

I'm at work this morning. The Cox building is the only building with cable and internet in the entire Baton Rouge market. It's a little warm but we will make it through the day.

As of 9PM Tuesday night Baton Rouge was still 95% without power. Regular telephone service is hit and miss while cell phone coverage takes forever to get a call out. There are downed power lines, phone lines, and cable lines throughout the Baton Rouge area. Worst storm causing that much damage since 1938.

I'm staying @ my sister and brother-in-law's house. He has a generator so at least when have air. They have a gas stove so food is no problem. Last night there were 16 of use in one house...all family...and we had a good time.

I came out OK...but unfortunately I can't say the same for my mobile home. A big oak tree took out the back bathroom, closet and 1/2 the master bedroom. So as of now I officially have 3 shirts to my name. Everything from my clothes closet in the master bedroom is under an oak tree in the back yard. Still unable to get a hold of anyone in the insurance office.

Work was closed Monday for everyone, only the field techs and support group worked on Tuesday and today I'm in to work 5 hours....8AM-1PM.

When I get internet running "somewhere" other than work, I can answer person emails and posts.

Hope everyone had an exciting Labor Day weekend...
