Honors Societies
So, I called my parents to tell them that I got invited to another honors society. Now, I think most honors societies are full of shit because they perpetuate an elitist, classist divide since they pretty much say, "Hey, you're great! Give us money so we can tell other people how great you are." Which, really, my grades should speak for themselves. Why should I pay you to tell people what they can already see? Anyway, I was amused because apparently my mom got invited to the same one when she was in college, and she was like, "What? I'm not going to pay fifteen bucks to join that!" At which point in the conversation I started laughing really hard because the fee now is $80. Ah, inflation, you amuse me.
