It's great that you are meeting the challenge head on and with a good attitude about it. It relates back to my favorite Ancient Chinese saying: We can't always choose what happens to us, but we can always choose our reaction to it.
I like that saying. I try to live by it. It's sure been a challenge these past couple of years. But now with the beautiful soft golden by my side I think we'll make it!
Yes Yale is a male golden. I don't have the specifics on his weight or anything. i'll get those this weekend. He's adorable and is slowly getting the hang of working with me. Thanks for reading and your comment!
I don't know much about guide dogs, but I guess I always assumed that golden retrievers were probably one of the best types of dogs to be in that position due to their temperament. I could be wrong, but I always viewed golden retrievers as calm and patient dogs despite having never actually owned one before (I'm a Rottweiler girl).
I love Rotties but I guess they'd be a bit to big and intimidating as guides! Grins. The most common dogs used for guide work are German Shepherd dogs, labs and goldens or crosses between lab/golden. I've had all of these. Each has its positives and negatives. I love the golden as they are affectionate, and usually pretty steady workers. I love the shepherd for its determination and it's work ethic. The lab is a steady worker, usually easy to maintain and it's playful nature. Every dog is a new and fun experience! Thanks so much for reading!
