Big news on the WoW front for me. I've left my guild. Well, for now. SOV has been a great guild to me, but some things were said that really hurt someone within the guild, which caused them to leave. Well, that person and one of my friends are kinda dating, so he left as well. Now, I've been with SOV for just about one year since our old guild merged with them. However, my friend Hex and I have been playing together since damn near right after the game came out. So we're good friends, along with the members of our first guild. We've been playing together for about two years.

The thing is, the main reason I've still played as long as I have is because I like the people I play with, specifically the original members of our old guild. So when Hex decided to leave, I was like, that's it, I'm leaving too. Trouble is, I still enjoy playing the game, I still enjoy advancing my character...but while I'm playing with friends. So I'm kinda at this point where I have to decide - do I want to stay with the friends that I've been playing with for such a long time and risk the possibility of not advancing my character for a very long time? Or do I continue to play with SOV and develop my character, minus my old friends? For now I've chosen to stick with my friends and I feel this is the best decision. If Hex does end up going back to SOV, I'm sure I will as well (since the issue really doesn't involve me to be honest), but I don't see that happening really.

So far out of about a group of ~50 core members, I think 5 have left at the moment, but after this weekend if we don't go back, I'm guessing as many as another 15 may leave as well. It could have some really devastating effects to the guild, especially since a lot of the people who would be leaving are very well geared. I suppose if you don't play WoW at all, you may think this is all rather silly, but for people whose hobby is playing WoW or other MMO's, your guild is very important to you. So I'm not happy at all to leave behind everything I've worked for within the game for a year, but I think my friendships (even though they may only be online friendships) are more important than gear and progression.
