I turned 21 yesterday here in Tokyo. Yep...I guess that means I'm actually an adult now or something. My birthday kinda came up on me by surprise...it seems like I'm much less aware the date or just time in general here. Since today was Grant's last day in Japan and it was my birthday yesterday, we hung out yesterday afternoon. Went to the arcade after I had class, got some cheap food for dinner and then headed to The Hub for a few drinks.

I suppose it was rather uneventful, but I really enjoyed it. Since I hadn't planned on doing any work, I got to just relax and enjoy the afternoon. My parents called me on my cell phone out of nowhere to wish my a happy birthday too, which was really nice....although it sounds kinda bad I don't mean it that way, but I don't even remember telling them my phone number. Evidently I did sometime...I also got a bag or man-purse as Chris used to call them from my host family. It's pretty much exactly how it sounds. They're much more convenient on the train than a big bulky backpack and almost every guy here has one. I'd been looking for one, but couldn't never find one I liked and wanted to shell out the cash for, but thankfully my host-parents found a nice one.

Unfortunately, I lost my teiki (commuter pass) today on the way to school. I just got it today and was one for 3 fucking months. It was like 15800yen or about $160. The program pays for them, but obviously they won't pay for another one. Although it sucks that I lost it, now is probably one of the best times I could lose it. I only have two more days of school before we get two weeks off, so that's two weeks I don't have to commute....then we come back for about a month, then get nearly two months off of school for Spring Break (it's actually the end of the normal school year for regular students at the college). During that time, I'll be off in Shimane-ken for a month as part of the study abroad program. So in the end, I really only have to pay to commute for about a month. Yokatta.

There's so much more I want to say, but I have to study for a kanji test...you know, those weird symbols that make up Japanese and Chinese.
