2013 Reading List

Lacks one book, but this is my reading list so far. Since I’ve been reading mostly ebooks (don’t get me wrong, I’d still go for the written print any day, but my schedule and travels, not to mention budget, do not permit me), I have been leaning on young adult-bordeline-teenage love drama. It sucks, because there are very few of this genre I can tolerate. I wanted more depth, more sense, but somehow, this is my “jam”, so to speak. I’ve been leaning towards it because I actually do find it more entertaining than other genres, despite it being annoying for most of the time. However, I did notice one more thing. I now know why I prefer tragic stories. Somehow, the tragedies make the drama more tolerable, more acceptable. With a good storytelling (not narration, there’s a thin line between these two), I am hooked. Some notable reads for this year include:

  1. Gayle Forman’s If I Stay                           4.95
  2. Sarah Ockler’s Twenty Boy Summer             4.90
  3. Jandy Nelson’s They Sky Is Everywhere       4.20
  4. Huntley Fitzpatrick’s My Life Next Door         4.10
  5. David Levithan’s Every Day                           4.00
  6. Jennifer Snyder’s The Unloved                     3.80

I wouldn’t have added #6 because it’s a 3, but I feel like I needed to mention it because it elicited heavy emotions from me.

That’s 21 out of 27 books for me. Six remaining letters from the alphabet, 10 more months to go. It’s a good year! :)

On another note, I am dismayed and agitated and hungry. The universe conspired to not have me eat dinner tonight.
