It's a Love Story. This excites me because :
- It's het, which I've never done before
- It's my first foray into a fandom that doesn't know me from Sam (har!)
- It started out as a writing exercise that blew into something much bigger, and thus, I had low expectations
- It's only 9,500 words, which is a short and low investment endeavor for me
- At least 6 people read it. 8, if you count my 2 betas.
When I posted
Parallax and got only 10 comments, I will admit the wind was taken out of my sails. Largely because Parallax was my dream concept, my big baby of ambition, and I thought "mainstream" enough to appeal to a wide variety of Remus/Sirius readers, not just the ones that love, say, kooky genre pieces. Perhaps it was a little unrealistic to expect more since I was breaking into a massive and totally new fandom of HP, and nobody knew who I was or why they should give a hoot. In any case, my expectations and standards have been tempered (see: vastly lowered). If I get more than 1 comment on a story, I consider it a resounding success at the box office.
