What it is: A low-key commentfic meme where everyone gets to post Dean/Castiel (or Jensen/Misha) prompts they'd like to see a commentfic about, and people comment back with ficlets fulfilling those wishes in the spirit of the holidays. A sort of un-Secret Santa, if you will (though I suppose

Dean had to admit he wasn’t thrilled with the idea of celebrating Christmas in the middle of the damned apocalypse. It wasn’t as though any of them had much to be thankful for. And Dean was willing to wager on the fact that Lucifer wouldn’t being taking any time off for the holidays. Especially this particular holiday…
But Bobby had insisted. Which had seemed odd to Dean at first, but given all the old man had lost over the course of the year, Dean figured he’d earned the right to feel a little sentimental round the holidays.
Sam was all for it. He’d even dragged Dean along with him to get a tree. It was kind of nice, standing out in the cold with Sam, freezing his ass off trying to fasten the second sorriest excuse for a Christmas tree Dean had ever seen to the roof of the Impala.
When they’d finally gotten in back to Bobby’s it ended up looking more like a giant Christmas stick than a tree, but they decorated it anyway with beer can ornaments and car fresheners…all the classics.
At least it smelled like evergreens.
If Dean was honest with himself he was kind of a sucker for Christmas, and even though he’d resisted the idea at first, he was kind of glad Bobby and Sam had suggested it. After all, who knew how many chances they’d have left for a real holiday once Lucifer decided to quit dragging his feet and kick off the apocalypse proper.
Not many…
Still it was nice, sitting around the giant stick, getting drunk off eggnog that, if Dean was honest, didn’t really qualify as eggnog.
It was the perfect Christmas.
Until Castiel showed up.

They’d slept together a few times now, stealing whatever spare moments they could between earth shattering revelations and the end of the world.
There weren’t many… turns out spare moments are a luxury during the apocalypse…Who’d of thought.
The point is everything was still in that new and awkward stage between hookup and relationship and Dean had tried his damnedest to keep Sam from suspecting, which wasn’t easy because Sam is Sam and Sam is smart and when it comes to Dean and sex, Dean and smart don’t mix.
And now Cas is just standing there, looking all disheveled and endearing in that puppy way that is so different than Sam and Dean is suddenly torn between jumping him and telling him to get out.
Dean settles for taking his coat instead and slinging it over the back of Bobby’s couch.
It’s still weird seeing Cas without his coat, but apparently once you teach an angel how to shed clothing there’s no going back.
…and Dean so wishes his mind wouldn’t go there with his brother standing three feet away.
It takes a few hours for Dean to settle down after Cas’ unexpected arrival. He’s still not sure how he knew to come, but judging by the dumbass look on Sam’s face, he had something to do with it.
Dean's still pretty sure Sam doesn’t have the damnedest clue what's had been going on between them the last few months, but he not blind. Sam must know that something's up. Dean just hopes he thinks they’ve had a falling out rather than whatever it is they’ve had…have.

“It’s Christmas, I’d be the biggest dick in the world to turn someone away on Christmas” Is all Dean says in response. He means it to be funny or ironic or something, but Cas is unresponsive as always.
At least he doesn’t leave.
Dean’s not sure that’s a good thing.
“Why are you hear Cas?”The question comes out softer than Dean intended, almost hopeful, like there’s something he wants Cas to say…but no…Dean’s just curious.
“Sam invited me”
Dean’s not sure why that disappoints him.
Castiel sighs then, and it’s so human, Dean’s heart aches for him.
“I believe it is customary on this holiday to exchange gifts” Castiel finally says, and Dean is a little surprised.
“Um, yeah…” Dean starts and Cas just cocks his head in that way that always makes Dean squirm and blush…Ever since that first time night “…but it’s not mandatory.”
“I see,” Cas says, so matter-of-factly Dean has to suppress a smile,“I got you something.”
Dean’s heart is like a thoroughbred in his chest, not because Cas got him a present…Definitely not. It’s because of the way Cas says it. “I got something for you.” Like he feels guilty. Like maybe he shouldn’t have. It’s way more endearing than it should be and Dean doesn’t even try to suppress the smile it generates.
“I have something for you too,” Dean says quietly watching Cas’ eyes widen ever so slightly with surprise “ Wait here a second.”

“You first,” he says shoving the package into Cas’ hand before he can protest.
Cas holds it like it’s some holy relic, then delicately peels back the paper, careful not to rip it.
…Dean fights against the urge to roll his eyes.
When Castiel is done he stands there, eyeing the contents of the package with confusion.
“I don’t understand. What is it?” he asks continuing to stare at it. At first glance it looks like bundle of bent twigs tied together with some colored wire and two big black feathers stuck to it.
“It’s tradition,” Dean says and try as he might, he can’t hide the fact that he’s totally embarrassed.
“Tradition?”
“Yeah, you know,” Dean starts, face red as a cherry tomato “…to put an angel on the tree.”
Cas looks at him, still confused, but obviously trying to understand.
“See those there…those are the wings, and see that blue wire there…that’s the tie” Dean explains, stepping into Castiel’s personal space to show him what he’s talking about.
“I see. You made this?”
“Yeah” Dean says, feeling suddenly like a total chick…A lame chick.
“For me?”
“Yeah.”
The corners of Castiel’s lips twitch and there’s amusement in his eyes that wasn’t there before.
“Thank you Dean. I will cherish it always.”
Again Dean feels the need to roll his eyes.
“I believe it is your turn,” Cas says, putting Dean’s angel aside and pulling a small red velvet package from his jacket pocket.
Dean takes it and examines it for a moment. It’s fastened with a thin gold ribbon and the velvet has little sigils embossed on it. Dean wonders at the significance for a moment before pulling it apart to get at what’s inside. What he finds inside is a plant with little white berries and he smiles.
“It’s fresh” Cas says, and Dean just has to laugh at that. He just has to.
And then, without really thinking he lifts the mistletoe over his head, grabs Cas by the back of the neck and kisses him hard, laughing the whole time.
When they pull apart all the awkwardness is gone. Like it’s dissipated somehow, and Dean can finally say the three little words he’s been thinking about all night.
“Merry Christmas Cas.”

Loved the idea of having a Christmas tree tied to the Impala's roof and Castiel saying, "I will cherish it always" over Dean's gift. Very cute, but rather hilarious at the same time!
