I am, unfortunately, not a Trekkie, but I enjoyed the epilogue as well as the whole story. There was a complexity in all the feelings that distanced them from the stereotypical concept we have in fiction of love, sex and affection, and it's always interesting to read about that. Your approach towards the kinks was not really about the kinks, it was about people enacting them, and that felt quite more real than the usual way we use fanfiction to fantasize about them (the kinks, I mean. Although it also applies to the characters).
So yes, even if I'm usually partial to bottom!Arthur, I liked the story and I admire how human you made the characters.
I'd never written any of the kinks in the story before, so I was definitely interested in exploring them (why people are into them, what makes them sexy, etc). But sex is an expression of who the characters are and their relationship to each other is, and the kinks are a way of heightening those situations--pushing them into sometimes stressful, weird and uncomfortable situations with each other--and seeing how they react. The kinks reveal aspects of who Arthur and Eames are, as well as what they mean to each other.
I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and thank you for the thoughtful comment!
The kinks: I'm glad you decided to give the story a shot, offputting kinks notwithstanding ;) Part of my goal with the story was to write some unappealing kinks (to me personally in some cases and to fandom generally in others) and make them engaging and interesting to readers usually not into those kinks. I wanted them to cover the range of reactions too--from shockingly hot to mildly disappointing to sweet and tender. And ultimately, I wanted each kink to reveal something about the characters and their relationship to each other. The ending example being the fursuits, where it becomes clear how much Arthur cares about Eames, even if he can't quite say it in so many words yet

I'm kind of--torn. I loved the epilogue. It was so funny and sweet and just a lovely way to end the story, but the ending to the actual fic was epic and gorgeous and I kind of felt like it should end there. It makes me feel like a real shit to say something like that since you wrote this huge, wonderful story and I debated not even mentioning it. Please let me know if you think it's out of line. I always liked receiving honest opinions on fic. Still, small quibble aside, the fic was seriously amazing. So gradual, believable. I love that they weren't the perpetually sexy twenty-somethings that fandoms seem to love so much. Perhaps it's because in general fans are so young that it seems like the characters hit thirty-five and become celibate, shuffled off to the old folks home where they belong, left to play side-characters, crazy or wizened with age. I love that at forty, they're still sexy, still hot, and more importantly, finally figuring out what they want out of life. They've done it all, seen it all, and though romance may not be

I'm glad you found the ending to be moving--some of the exact details of what they're doing and saying might have changed, but I always knew I wanted the story to end with a particular feeling
