Prompt: Ellen meeting Castiel for the first time. And maybe her finding out he's an angel. From
here.

They're hunkered down in the ruins of what used to be Smalltown, USA, in a brief moment of respite between waves of demon attacks when Castiel pops in right behind Dean's left shoulder.
Ellen's got her gun trained on him in a heartbeat. "Don't move. Dean, get over here."
Dean cranes his neck over his shoulder to make sure it's Castiel (although he doesn't really need to anymore--somehow in the last few weeks, he's gotten so used to Castiel's poorly timed, personal space invader-y entrances he doesn't even need to look to know it's him) and says, "Hey, Cas, way to wait till the last possible second to show up. Ellen, this is Cas, the chucklehead I called five hours ago for backup."
She doesn't lower her gun. "You too good to use the door like normal people?"
"I am not 'normal people'," Castiel says and she pulls the safety on her gun.
"What he meant to say is that he's one of the good guys," Dean shoots Castiel a look. "I guess you could call him a friend."
Castiel's gaze flickers away from Ellen (and her gun) briefly to Dean before he slowly nods. "Yes. I am... a friend."
"I ain't never met a good guy that could just magic himself into a room," Ellen says, but Dean hears the click of the safety again. "What are you?"
"An angel of the Lord," Castiel says without hesitation and Dean wants to smack him for sounding so damn earnest and stupid. Dean already knows what Castiel is and it still doesn't make it sound any less ridiculous this time around.
Ellen finally does put her gun down, and she studies Castiel. "You the one that pulled Dean out of the Pit?" At Dean's surprised expression, she raises an eyebrow at him pointedly, "Yeah, Bobby filled me in. Once again, I have to find out all the relevant info from someone other than Dean."
Dean wilts a little under her disapproval and Castiel seems almost amused. "I did. And Dean fought me every second of the way up."
"Of course he did." Ellen shakes her head as she holsters her gun. "Boy wouldn't know what was good for him if it hit him in the face with a two-by-four."
Castiel makes a noise that sounds suspiciously like agreement and Dean looks back and forth between the two, wondering what the hell just happened. He clears his throat, "I am still in the room, you know."
"Course you are, Dean," Ellen says as she pats his arm reassuringly. "Now, Cas, was it? Tell me you got some good news for us."
