I don't know who I feel worse for, Dean who had all but a small hope stripped away from him at once or Cas who is painstakingly slowly losing everything. I'm so glad they at least have each other even they won't admit to appreciating the company.

Yeah, the fact that they have each other really is the only bright spot--for either of them--in this whole situation, but they're both currently too preoccupied with their own respective problems to acknowledge it. Eventually, they'll come around--but it'll take some work ;)

Aw, well thank you. Realism is what I aim for! I want the characters' emotions and conflicts to be what really grounds this crazy world--without that, my piece just falls off the crack van (not that there's anything wrong with crack!fic, but it's not the intent of this particular story). ;)

Oh, Cas, hoping that he is still himself and trying desperately to deny that he's fallen. And, oh, Dean! Man, he gets shitty news and then Cas pulls something stupid like that. That last part breaks my heart. I love this 'verse so much.

Thank you, m'dear! And yeah, Castiel's timing is less than ideal; both guys are just too caught up in their own deals to realize what's happening on the other side.
