I don't know how I feel about being a writer again. On the one hand, it feels good to be creative. But writing is hard, and it takes up so much time. I went out for early dinner with some friends tonight, and I got home around 7:30 to a free evening, my first one in awhile. I don't even have school tomorrow, so homework can wait (all day tomorrow: homework). I spent almost the whole night writing 2000 words. Do I have time for this? No. Also, I'm worried I won't be able to write my papers because I'll be so sick of writing. Although, actually, it's only been getting easier lately. Hmmm.

I went to see the Vagina Monologues this afternoon. I think this is the 6th or 7th time. I like comparing all the different versions of it. I wasn't very excited about going this year, I more went because it's become a tradition now. But once I got there, it was so good. They did modern dance numbers for a few of the more serious ones this year, with the words recorded over some music. The dancing was good but I thought it took away from the power of the words. Normally during "My Vagina Was My Village" I feel so heavy, and this time it didn't have the same impact. Also, I kind of like how productions usually focus on the women's stories instead of being really theatrical. Few props, simple costumes (black with red accents), very little choreography. You get to focus on the chorus of voices. But I respect the attempt, and it was certainly done within the spirit of the original.
Plus: chocolate vaginas*.

Vandana Shiva is coming to my school in March and I got a ticket! They were free, but there's a limited number so I had to go wait in line. She's like, so much larger than life for me, she's one of the first people I remember hearing about when I was first started university and was learning about global capitalism, and people always talked about her with such respect.
*Firefox is underlining "vaginas" in red, but not vagina. What, there's no such thing as more than one vagina?
