Okay, this weather is more like it. Cool, but not cold, just enough rain to make you need a rainjacket if you are going outdoors for long periods of time but not rain pants or boots. No wind. No snow. No slush. No thin covering of ice on the ground that makes me fall off my bike, twice, just because I wanted to make a right turn.
I am getting so stubborn and reckless about riding my bike everywhere. In december I was like, no, I'm not going to ride while there's snow on the roads, I don't trust drivers here to allow enough time to stop or turn. I'm not going to get run over. But I'm really missing the regular exercise, and I hate waiting for 20 minutes for a bus to come at night when I could be home by then. But then the other night I brought my bike to school, not realizing that there was much more snow on campus than where I live, which is not far away but at a much lower elevation. I had to ride down the hills on the way home with one foot on the ground, braking, because just coasting down the hills made me go fast enough that I wouldn't be able to stop if I started skidding.
That was a bad decision. So was riding in the ice. Thank goddess for this rain, thank goddess.
