Might as well keep on with the mermaid trend..
I am in desperate search of these mermaids! I've found a few pics around the internet and the great people at Ghost of the Doll have helped me out a lot, but I've only had the opportunity to buy 1 of these since I started my search for them! So please let me know if you've got some for sale. I'd also love to see more pics if you've got them. ^-^
kk! On to the dolls! We've discovered that they are simply called Mermaids. How original. So that might be a reason why they're difficult to find, aside from that fact that they are just little cheapy off brand dolls. I remember getting the ones I had from Toys R Us. I also remember seeing them later on at Toys R Us being sold in a large pack for party favors. They are marked "M T China". zuse from Ghost of the Doll seems pretty sure that it stands for Multi Toys. There were two types of Mermaids dolls produced by M T. The first is what I call the "Pretty Poseables" and the second I just call the "Non-poseables".
These two carded images came from zuse who saved them from ebay:

As you can see from the images they all have the same body mold and there are at least 3 different head molds. I think these were the only 3 used for the line.
I personally own two of the non-poseables. The one on the right in the following image I have had since childhood and she is in pretty bad shape with lots of paint and hair loss. But her baldness is in the back thank goodness! The one on the left I bought from someone online recently.
As you can see they use the same head molds as the Pretty Poseables. You can also see the poor craftsmanship on the left one. Her paint job isn't great.. But I love her nonetheless!
I just love her pose from every angle!
