Shun/Uki loves! <3
Once again, my utter lack of decisiveness in what to write has led me to beginning a sentence set at midnight. -_-; -faaaails-

A/N: I love these two characters, and I adored their perfect, beautiful friendship ages before I started shipping them. I'm not even really a yaoi fangirl, but like...I totally cannot see Ukitake with anyone else. xD; My specialty is Ukitake, so hopefully I will be able to pull of Shunsui's fascinatingly complex character as well. even if these are just a sentence each. xD
#01 - Comfort
Shunsui's relaxed, easygoing presence has always been an immense comfort to him in dealing with his illness and his darkest demons in health.
#02 - Kiss
Their first kiss had been a dare when they were in the Academy; they now no longer need any prodding for the action
#03 - Soft
Shunsui loves the aura of soft, gentle warmth that his childhood friend always exudes--whenever he mentions it to Jushiro, the white-haired man always tells him he has it too, if people would stop missing the forest for the trees.
#04 - Pain
The nights he has to watch helplessly as Jushiro lays there, gasping for air, are the ones that cause his fellow captain the most pain as well.
#05 - Potatoes
Ukitake often recounts some of the tales Rukia told him about the human world (it's been quite a while since he visited)--when he mentioned French Fries and how they were made of potatoes, Shunsui insisted they go to try some.
#06 - Rain
Every time it rains, he can't help but see Kaien's face again, the look in his eyes impaled on Rukia's blade as his life drained away...those are the days that he finds a familiar shoulder waiting for him, to catch the tears he's so afraid to shed.
#07 - Chocolate
"Turns out the humans give chocolates to their special someones once every year," Shunsui states absently when greeted by Jushiro's questioning look at the heart-shaped box he'd been handed.
#08 - Happiness
However pleasant sake and then a nap under a shaded tree at midday was, neither alcohol nor sleep compared to the pure content in spending an afternoon with the man he'd loved for almost two thousand years.
#09 - Telephone
The hell butterflies have always been a great service to the Soul Society in ferrying messages, but the two captains can't help but find the human invention that lets them talk as if face to face from some distance apart absolutely fascinating.

Shunsui thinks, sometimes (drunkenly?), that those ear studs his lieutenant wears would look awfully cute on his Juu-chan.

They've long since been on a first name basis, but the two captains know better than anyone that when you get to know someone well enough, how the simple mention of a name can bring such joy when that specific voice utters it.
