Title: Intoxication
Fandom: InuYasha
Characters: Sesshomaru, Rin, Jaken
Summary: After consuming too much of the strange human liquid only described as "sake," Sesshomaru learns about a phenomenon known as a "hangover."
A/N: This...is stupid and random and crack. But I had to write it, or the concept would eat me alive until I did. xD; Soooo, um. This is dedicated to my friends Taisa and Greed, because Greed gave Taisa a prompt for "liquor," and I wanted him to write one of his stoic characters drunk, which led to...this. o.O; Uh, by the premise of this, Sesshy'll be a bit ooc? No spoilers, though. ENJOY THE CRACK! It is rare from me, I assure you. xD
He was fairly sure he ought to be vowing bloody murder against those scum that had given him this strange human…drug? Non-lethal poison? He wasn’t quite sure what this “sake” was, that the humans appeared so fond of drinking until their cheeks turned pink and their gait became unsteady, and he didn’t really care, but it was disgraceful to let oneself go like that, and to reduce him to such slovenly behavior-him, the great Lord Sesshomaru-was just…
…just…the adjective eluded him. He was fairly sure he was supposed to be livid-was that a word? Was that the right word?-but he couldn’t quite muster up the urge for violence or blood or destruction…he felt far too…mellow-yes, that was it-to raise his blade or claws against anything.
The humans really were foolish creatures. He had no interest in their pathetic lives, though they were all apparently too self-obsessed to understand that (a pitiful race, really). They didn’t realize that that demon had merely gotten in his way, so he had disposed of it. If any of the humans had been fool enough to get in their way, he would have done the same. Their opinion of him would have undoubtedly been less glowing had that been the case.
But apparently this human village in particular was familiar with his father (or at least, their ancestors were…or perhaps they had heard the legends?)-he really ought not to have dirtied his great demon heritage on such creatures so often-and the group of men that he had “saved” kept insisting that he share a drink with them, despite his attempt at polite refusal, and eventually, he had given in. It would have been a disgrace to his father’s name to have lost his temper and slaughtered the group of mortals-though he could admit it would have been cathartic. It had tasted sweet, he thought, though by now the memory of how the liquid tasted was far too cloudy in his alcohol-addled mind. Regardless, after the first drink, the men had given him more, and refusing just no longer seemed practical with these absurdly persistent humans, and after that point, he himself had found that he no longer resisted, his mind amiably succumbing to the oblivion the…“sake” provided.
Now, about his seventh (eighth? Ninth?) drink in, he could feel an odd…buzzing sensation in his head and his slender, elegant form swayed just slightly as he stood, the flush of the alcohol that was alien to his system to begin with all the more prominent on his pale cheeks.
His retainer, Jaken, had seemed vaguely concerned at first, the half-smile of drunken content that he was not even aware of breeding fear in the imp of becoming the recipient of much bodily damage…but the demon lord missed how the fear in Jaken’s eyes shifted to a predatory smirk as he realized his master’s smile was not the usual one that signified violence and malice. He even found himself amiable to Rin’s requests to play, semi-consciousness not really bothering at the human child’s sudden invasion of his space or the faint tugs on his hair.
---
Several hours later, when he awoke on a soft-human-mattress with a splitting headache and tumultuous waves of nausea turning his stomach…lilies and daisies and other flowers he couldn’t remember the names of in various colors adorning hair that was not supposed to be braided, what he believed humans referred to as “finger-paint” staining his pristine claws, and Jaken in a corner, merrily munching away on food that he was fairly sure had not come into their possession through hunting or purchase…
…the demon lord groaned as a light came on and the shoji door to the room slid open, revealing a young-ish human woman whom he assumed worked for the inn (was it an inn?) and he learned a thing or two about a human phenomenon known as a “hangover.”
Amber eyes fell back shut, hoping to keep out the light and the movement and the drumming in his ears that was no longer nearly as pleasant as it had been mere hours ago, and though he felt too miserable to be angry or livid (or a number of other adjectives that were flooding to mind now that he was no longer intoxicated) enough to spend the energy tearing Jaken limb from limb…he felt somewhat comforted in the look on Jaken’s face before he’d closed his eyes…and the noises of obvious fear his retainer made as he busied himself bringing his lord water and the like.
In a way, it was even better than tearing him limb from limb-this way, he could torment the treacherous little imp for days with the fear that he would.
