(inspired by claire) the story starts.
summers in canada: well it is mostly the winters i remember [go figure] but i know that i loved playing with Zachary across the street and Brendan two doors down and Daniel from kindergarden. I remember the paint messes and the bigger water messes made from cleaning off the paint. And the stool that Zachary had under the sink that we would always pull out and stand on and just barely be able to wash our hands.

summers in maryland: best friend-filled. Rachel two doors down and Fallon with the adjoining backyard. Rachel's pool and trying to use her dad's old typewriter to write notes to each other. Riding in the back of Rachel's stationwagon and climbing pine trees in Fallon's yard [who cared about poison ivy anyways?]. Pretending to be spice girls and always fighting over who got to be sporty spice. And the disagreements that came with having three opposite opinions, but when dont those happen? Carefree times and doing our girl scout pledges together.

Summers in North Hills, Pennsylvania: Meeting Danielle and knowing that it wasnt that hard to find a new friend. It was riding our bikes down the highway and not caring about cars in our path. It was being tomboys and playing dodgeball with the guys two neighborhoods down. Building a treehouse in the neverending woods and yelling at the construction workers when they showed up with bulldozers over our favorite paths. Countless times of playing "ghost" until it was pitch black and the lightning bugs came out. The sleepovers, the power outages, the treks through the woods and getting lost more than a few times.

Summers in North Alleghany, Pennsylvania: At first it was Jenna and Melissa, making up code-names and playing four-square with a vengeance. But then we fced the uncertainty of middle school, defining and ultimately spliting us. But it was ok because Rachel came along. Two day sleepovers, talking about crushes and laughing at the stupid movies we would love to watch. Bringing her sax and my clarinet to each others houses and memorizing the easy, fun band songs. Innumerable inside jokes and finally learning the difference between her three cats. Eating ice cream and popcorn and having checkers wars. Mostly it was just having somebody you knew you could trust and who could be there when you needed a three hour phone conversation.

Summers in Buffalo: The first one was terrible. One whole month of having nothing to do; a month of trying to prolong unpacking and wanting to call old friends in other states, but knowing that they wouldnt be home. It was wanting to go to school but dreading the world of unknown at the same time. Family overload as everyday was spent with them. The next one of course was better. Summerschool was fun being spent with claire everyday playing hangman and writing out the Muppet Christmas Carol lyrics. Getting to know Mickey more and laughing with him and Becky about Anchorman.

And now.
Barely enough time to talk. Broken Harry Potter rants interrupted by having to run off to Roswell. Coveted weekends wanting to catch up with everybody. Thinking of how the seniors will be gone next year. Will we lose touch...? The back-to-school commercials are already here and i fear so is the impeding year. Where has all the time gone? it seems like only yesterday........
