[That announcement had quite literally made Feferi feel ill. It wasn't the concept of killing so much; she knew full well where all those lusii that she fed G'bolgy'b had come from. Keeping her lusus quiet had meant the deaths of countless trolls. If this had been Alternia? Even there, a thing like this wouldn't surprise her, especially not if it was Her Imperious Condescence's doing. Feferi certainly wouldn't put it past the empress to round up and tell all the little would-be empresses to kill each other before they could ascend to take her title. She wasn't so naive to think life was all rainbow trout and sunfish.

But this? This wasn't Alternia. And she didn't know who was here and who wasn't.

She'd checked her bags already, deciding to save the signal flares she had. Using one this early would only draw the wrong kind of attention; better to save the light and heat for when she needed them more. She pulled her coat about her, horns sticking out of her hood, and checked her map. It looked like she was close to a hospital, which was good; that meant she could stock up on some supplies before looking for a safe spot. Her instincts told her to move towards the ocean, but whether that was a good idea or a bad one was left up to chance.

And she didn't want to take chances so soon. One step at a time...]
